| The Chico State Basic Needs Project supports student success and well-being by providing access to supplemental food, meals, emergency grants, housing resources, student parent support, referrals, and educational programming for students experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, or financial hardship. Student assistants play an essential role in creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive environment for all students seeking Basic Needs services. In this position, student assistants provide front-facing customer service, clerical and administrative support, and program assistance to the Basic Needs professional team. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting students, supporting application processes, helping case managers and the department analyst with basic reporting and appointments, answering the main phone line, assisting with diaper distribution, setting appointments, and helping maintain a clean and organized workspace. Students may also work on special projects such as creating flyers, support operations at the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry as needed, and complete additional tasks assigned by Basic Needs staff. Successful candidates maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe, Qualtrics, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Word is preferred. Regular attendance, participation in mandatory trainings, and weekly staff meetings are required. Customer service experience and bilingual skills are a plus, and students from all majors are encouraged to apply. |
