Chico State Office of Alumni Engagement Student Assistant Job Description (2025-26)
Work Schedule: Flexible, typically 8-15 hours/per week, 20 hours maximum
Job Description:
The Chico State Office of Alumni Engagement is seeking a student assistant(s) to join our dynamic team. You’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, build your skillset, and engage with Chico State alumni, students, the campus community, and friends.
The initial employment period is April 2026 through May 2027 (summer off), with the potential to continue in subsequent academic years. This position requires the ability to attend certain mandatory events that may fall outside of regular business hours.
Primary Duties:
- Social Media and Digital Content Creation
- Capture and edit short-form videos (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikToks) that highlight alumni, students, campus life, and events.
- Create engaging posts across social platforms to strengthen alumni connection and campus pride.
- Assist with social media engagement, strategy and trend monitoring.
- Event Support
- Help plan, prepare, and execute a variety of alumni events, from small meetups to large gatherings.
- Provide day-of-event support such as registration, photography/videography, and attendee engagement.
- Office Operations
- Contribute to day-to-day office tasks, from answering phones, campus errands, and emails to customer service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong storytelling and visual communication skills.
- Experience capturing and editing short-form videos using tools such as CapCut, Adobe, or similar apps.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to collaborate with staff, alumni, and campus partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with Canva or other design tools preferred.
- Willingness to work some evenings or weekends for major events.
- Ability to learn and adhere to University brand standards and marketing practices
Recruitment Preferences:
- Design experience and working knowledge of Canva
- Experience creating and posting content on various social media platforms with a particular focus on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Alumni Association Spring 2025 Events:
Below is a list of major spring events. Additional events may be scheduled.
- Grad Fest (February) – Grad Fest is an event hosted by the Wildcat Store that provides graduates with a one-stop opportunity to take care of their graduation needs.
- Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony (March 6) – The Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony recognizes the year’s distinguished alumnus/a from each of the seven colleges plus the Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Service Award recipient.
- Senior Send-Off (April 21) – This event congratulates seniors on their accomplishments and introduces graduates to the Alumni Association.
- Time Capsule Ceremony (April 21) – Annual Time Capsule burial ceremony, assist with the promotion of the event, encouraging students to submit items, and the event execution.
- Commencement Ceremonies – Assist with Alumni Office stage duties at Commencement (six ceremonies over five days).

Additional Information:
All work must be performed within the State of California.
Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
The person holding this position may be considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
