Role Description:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management is collecting application materials Instructional Student Assistant Tutors. 

Description of Duties:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is hiring tutors for EECE 144, EECE 211, EECE 237, EECE 311, EECE 315, and EECE 344 classes. Tutors will work with students in one-on-one or in organized groups for same class tutoring. Approximately 5 hours per week.

The responsibilities of the EECE tutors are to

  1. Determine methods to stimulate student learning with minimal guidance from faculty
  2. Identify errors in problem solving skills of other students without direct faculty supervision
  3. Suggest approaches that students can use to develop a better understanding of concepts in EECE courses without direct faculty supervision
  4. Create one or more problem sets that the tutor then solves step-by-step to provide an example solution without direct faculty supervision
  5. Assist students develop practical experiment skills without direct faculty supervision
  6. Communicate with professors teaching the class to keep a record of assigned projects and exams
  7. Track and report tutoring hours before payroll deadline to the EECE Department ASC
  8. Communicate hours of availability to the EECE Department ASC

Minimum Qualifications:

All applicants should have passed all courses they will tutor with grade B or better and at a minimum have passed at least EECE 237, EECE 211, and EECE 144 with grade B or better.

Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
