Role Description:
|
The Chico State Office of Alumni Engagement is seeking a detail-oriented student intern to join our team and assist with data gathering, data processing, and data management related to alumni engagement and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft Excel skills, an interest in working with data and information management, excellent attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new systems and processes. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with data management, reporting, alumni engagement, and the day-to-day operations of a university advancement office.
This is a 20-hour-per-week position with flexible scheduling around the student's academic commitments.
Primary Duties
Alumni Engagement Reporting & Data Management
- Assist with the development and implementation of a data collection and reporting framework aligned with Alumni Engagement metrics.
- Support the collection, organization, review, and processing of alumni engagement data from multiple campus partners and sources.
- Maintain and organize spreadsheets and other data-tracking tools used for reporting.
- Review data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and potential duplicate records.
- Assist with matching and cross-referencing alumni information across data sources.
- Help prepare data for entry, coding, analysis, and reporting.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of data collection and reporting processes.
- Work with Alumni Engagement staff to continuously improve data-gathering and tracking processes.
- Handle alumni information with accuracy, discretion, and appropriate confidentiality.
Office Operations
- Assist with day-to-day office operations, including answering phones and emails, completing campus errands, organizing materials, and providing customer service to alumni and campus partners.
- Provide general administrative support to the Office of Alumni Engagement as needed.
Event Support – Occasional
- Assist with the planning, preparation, and execution of alumni events, ranging from small gatherings to larger signature events.
- Help with event preparation, registration, attendee information, set-up, and other event-related needs as assigned.
- Attend alumni and other campus events
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including organizing, sorting, filtering, and managing data.
- Experience or interest in databases, data management, information systems, analytics, or related areas.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and information sources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Dependable, professional, and willing to learn new systems and processes.
