Role Description:

Enrollment Management at Chico State has an employment opportunity for an aspiring Data Analyst to support our department with data collection and analysis. This student assistant will provide support to the Director of Enrollment Management Data Analytics and Operations and other personnel in the Enrollment Management area, performing hypothesis testing, disaggregation and data wrangling for campus level, service area, regional and national data on admissions and enrollment. Together with our Director of Data Analytics and Operations, you will work with our campus’s Institutional Research department to gather data about our own students and about high school and college students around the country, and will help us to organize, analyze and understand the data. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are interested in the fast-growing fields of data analysis and data science. This would also be a great role for students who wish to pursue graduate-level research in the future.
Successful applicants should have the ability to organize and manipulate data sets using Excel or similar program. Applicants do not need to have any prior experience in programming or data analytics tools however should have a strong grasp of communicating ideas through the use of data. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a self-directed manner will be foundational to the success of the role. All students who enjoy working with and interpreting data, including graduate students, are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to students with strong quantitative reasoning or have received a Federal Work Study award.
