| Role Description: |
The Psychology Department in the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences is collecting application materials for an Animal Care Technician in the department’s mouse colony. Primary function involves providing routing care for up to 40 cages of laboratory mice, as well as strictly maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring each mouse cage has a sufficient supply of food and water, checking to see that cages and bedding and dry.
- Changing mouse cages and put in new bedding, food, and water.
- Sweeping and mopping the colony room floor, and maintaining the general tidiness of the lab.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a current Chico State student with work study.
- Available to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and university breaks.
- Ability to multi-task, often work quickly and be incredibly responsible and meticulous.
- Ability to inspect and monitor the health of mice and alert the Principal Investigator if any problems are present.
- Ability to weigh mice and fill out the daily weight and feeding chart.
- Ability to monitor to see if pregnant mice have delivered and note the date.
- Ability to lift large bags of mouse food and bedding weighing approximately 10lbs.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

Additional Information:
All work must be performed within the State of California.
Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
