Role Description:
SARC-E is an SLF-funded program for academic year 2025-26 to support student research and creative opportunities through research assistantships/fellowships that demonstrate the power of high-impact practices—such as undergraduate research, service learning, community-based projects, creative inquiry, global and cultural engagement, and integrative learning—to foster access, inclusion, and meaningful student success.
Working with a faculty mentor throughout the academic year, students complete a significant research project or creative endeavor and share the results of their work in a public forum.
We seek proposals for projects that:
· Explore barriers to and opportunities for equity, access, and inclusion in higher education and beyond.
· Apply or examine high-impact educational practices that improve outcomes for historically underserved or marginalized student populations.
· Demonstrate creativity in approach, methodology, or expression—whether through research, performance, visual arts, digital media, or other scholarly/creative forms.
· Provide actionable insights or contributions that can inform institutional practices, community partnerships, or broader equity efforts.
· SARC-E Research Assistant/Fellows will work with their faculty mentor to establish and track their hours of work on the project.
· A final report on the research project should be submitted by date.
· Results of the projects should be shared publicly by the end of summer 2026, either at the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium or at an academic conference.

Minimum Qualifications:
The SARC-E program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing. Priority will be given to applicants who are active participants in the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center and/or cultural affinity centers (El Centro, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American or Black Resource Center). Applicants must identify a faculty mentor, who is responsible for completing a portion of the application.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.
