Role Description:

The Science Education Department in the College of Natural Sciences is collecting application materials for an office student assistant. 

Description of Duties: 

  • Greet and welcome guests 
  • Answer questions  
  • Answer incoming calls 
  • Light cleaning 
  • Distribute mail 
  • Check, sort, and forward emails
  • Various clerical duties 
  • Create fliers and other promotional items for the department
  • Post on the department social media accounts
  • Be available to work for up to 10 hours a week, M-F, between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (number of hours per week might vary). 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel and Word) 

  • Familiarity with office machines (e.g. fax, printer etc.) 

  • Strong communication and people skills 

  • Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities 

  • Problem-solving skills 

  • Customer service oriented 

  • Simple graphic design skills (do not need an expert)
  • Simple content creation for social media

Additional Information:

All work must be performed within the State of California.

Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
