Role Description:

Position Summary

The WellCat Counseling Center is dedicated to maintaining a visible and active presence on campus to advocate for mental health awareness and promote available resources.

The UMatter Outreach Lead serves as the primary coordinator of outreach efforts and is responsible for organizing events, managing logistics, and supporting campus engagement initiatives. This position plays a key role in ensuring effective collaboration between the UMatter Program and campus/community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead outreach events.
  • Design and implement interactive components for tabling and outreach efforts.
  • Manage logistics and event details; communicate tasks, timelines, and responsibilities with team members.
  • Coordinate outreach materials and promotional items.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Program Coordinator to ensure continuity and organization of outreach efforts.
  • Establish and maintain communication with campus organizations, departments, and community partners to secure opportunities for classroom presentations, tabling, and collaborative events.
  • Schedule outreach activities and avoid scheduling conflicts or double-bookings.
  • Assist with the design and facilitation of mental health presentations, trainings, and educational programs.
  • Respond to inquiries via email and phone from departments, student organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Track event attendance and assist with program evaluation.
  • Provide support to interns.
  • Lead weekly team meetings.
  • Co-chair the internship recruitment committee.
  • Plan and develop events to ensure strong campus engagement.
  • Reserve rooms, equipment, and supplies for larger events.
  • Coordinate event walk-throughs and assign team roles before, during, and after events.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at Chico State.
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in California.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in student leadership roles or comparable positions preferred.
  • Knowledge of campus and community resources available to students.
  • Experience or willingness to engage in public speaking and presentations.
  • Strong professional communication skills (in person, by phone, online, and via email).
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to serving in this role for the full academic year.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend presentations/programs outside of standard business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m.).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with policy requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with professional staff, student employees, and diverse campus departments.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, dependability, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Additional Information:

All work must be performed within the State of California.

Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
