Position Title: Instructional Student Assistant – College of Business Tutor

Pay Range:  $17.86 - $23.84

Location Type: Hybrid - On-site (Glenn 202) and online (via Zoom)

Role Description:

The Business Student Success Center in the College of Business is collecting application materials for College of Business subject tutors. Under the direct supervision of the Business Student Success Center Coordinator, tutors provide individual or small group weekly sessions in assigned subject area(s). Tutors promote independent learning and act as academic mentors and role models. Using questions and interactive strategies, tutors guide students through course material and suggest helpful learning strategies.

Description of Duties:

Primary Duties: 

  • Responsible for holding weekly tutoring sessions. 
  • Help students make sense of what they don't understand. 
  • Review course concepts. 
  • Review homework students have completed and identify successes and failures. 
  • Provide tips to students on how to read the textbook for understanding. 
  • Help students prepare for exams. 
  • Communicate regularly with instructors. 
  • Expected to work 10-20 hours/week.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Tutors must maintain good academic standing (B grade, or higher, for any course they will tutor). 
  • Tutors must be currently enrolled with the university. 
  • Tutors should be sensitive to the experience of students with disabilities and students from low-income, academically disadvantaged, and ethnically diverse backgrounds. 
  • Ability to provide tutoring sessions in person and online. 

Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

  • Unofficial transcripts – tutors must have earned at least a B grade in the courses they tutor for. 
  • Schedule availability 
  • Possible Interview
