Role Description:

Under general supervision of Box Office staff, Tier 1 Student Assistants are the first point of contact for patrons at the University Box Office. This entry-level position focuses on learning the basics of ticketing, customer service, and box office operations in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist walk-up customers with questions. Such as:
    • Event info
    • Pricing
    • Venue Info
    • Client information
    • Website Assistance
  • Sell tickets and subscriptions using Patron Manager Ticketing Software
  • Answer office phone calls courteously and provide basic assistance
  • Manage payments (cash, credit, and check) with accuracy
  • Generate and print daily sales report
  • Maintain knowledge of campus events by reviewing client websites and materials
  • Assist with general office duties such as printing, organizing supplies, and mail prep
  • Qualify orders within Patron Manager
  • Learn the Commencement Ticketing process to help students and guests with their questions by phone or in office.

Event Work (As Needed):

  • May occasionally assist with event support when limited staff is available. 

Qualifications:

  • Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Willingness to learn, follow procedures, and work as part of a team
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be available to work Commencement (finals week and weekend in May)

  • Ticketing software (Patron Manager)
  • Customer service basics
  • Box Office procedures
  • Commencement ticketing Software

All work must be performed within the State of California.

Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
