Role Description:
The Earth & Environmental Sciences Department in the College of Natural Sciences is collecting application materials for Teaching Associates for a lab and/or activity section of ERTH 101 Our Changing Planet, ERTH 102 Physical Geology, ERTH 110 Oceanography, or ERTH 130 Introduction to Environmental Science during the Fall 2025 semester. Hold office hour(s) as assigned each week. Prepare lab activities and materials as instructed. Grade, provide student feedback, and assist students. Anticipating 3-4 available positions at an estimated 3-6 hours each section per week.
Description of Duties:
- Attend, instruct, lecture, and/or supervise an assigned number of sections/courses/labs per week
- Prepare for instruction, and proctor examinations
- Hold assigned number of office hours per week
- Read and evaluate student assignments, papers, and/or exams
- Maintain/submit and determine student records (e.g. grades)
- Perform other tasks as assigned by faculty supervisor (e.g. attend weekly meeting with supervisor)
- May be asked to supervise or assist with field experience, supervision students, simulation exercises, and/or research projects
Minimum Qualifications:
Equivalent to or completion of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree and active enrollment in a CSU, Chico graduate program related to the discipline to which the individual is assigned. Evidence of continuous satisfactory achievement in discipline assigned, and completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course. Able to relate well to others within the academic environment: students, faculty, staff, and campus community. Must be available in person as scheduled during the academic year. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and other campus software applications required for instructional purposes.
