Instructional Student Assistant - Writing Mentors English Department

| Mentors work closely with the instructor of English 131, Writing Workshop, and support first-year students who are completing English 130W, Academic Writing. Writing mentors help students understand course goals and assignments and support students' growth as writers and college students. English 131 has two sections for mentors to join: Tuesdays, 2:00-3:15 AND/OR Wednesdays, 3:00-4:15. Mentors are also paid for a weekly mentor meeting (TBA) and for 1 hour of prep. Total hours: 3.5 to 5 hours per week. |

PALs lead icebreakers, help student groups work through challenges and solve problems, and demonstrate important college skills. These include using Canvas, communicating clearly with professors and classmates, catching up after missing class, and understanding detailed assignment instructions. |
