| Role Description: |
The Office of International Education and Global Engagement (IEGE) at California State University, Chico is hiring for 2 successful applicants for our International Student Ambassador Position for the 2026-27 academic year. This position is anticipated to be 8-10 hours per week. This position supports the transition and success of new international students at Chico State. Ambassadors serve as peer mentors, share their experiences, and help build a welcoming and inclusive campus community through orientation programs, outreach, and engagement activities. The position pays $17.50 per hour.
Description of Duties:
- Attend mandatory weekly in-person leadership meetings - Serve as a peer mentor to new International Wildcats - Communicate with prospective International Wildcats - Plan, organize, and implement events for International Wildcats - Create virtual engagement content for IEGE social media and web platforms - Attend campus events and share international student experience/perspective and/or give input - Assist IEGE admissions staff by participating in calling campaigns, education fairs, and student focus groups - Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Eligibility Criteria: - Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Must reside in Chico and be enrolled during the entire 2026-27 academic year - Experience living and studying abroad (in a country where you did not grow up) - Availability for mandatory training on Monday, August 10, 2026 and to work at International Wildcat Orientation events between August 18 – 19, 2026 & possibly January 19-20,2027 - Some responsibilities may require evening or weekend availability, particularly during orientation programs and special events - Must have also completed one or more of the following: 1. volunteered in the past year as a Global Ally or similar mentor program 2. Completed first-year experience course with a B or higher 3. served in a leadership position for a student organization 4. completed a course with a leadership focus with a B or higher 5. held a job as an employee for at least one year 6. Fluency in a second language
This position requires a background check before a job offer can be given.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

Additional Information:
All work must be performed within the State of California.
Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
The person holding this position is not considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
