Role Description:
|
Be a part of the first class of leaders in Chico State’s Cross-Cultural Leadership Center! Edit The central mission of each center is to provide a welcoming and supportive space for programming on a broad range of social justice issues, where students can learn about their identity, academic and professional opportunities, and trends affecting specific BIPOC communities. Students will be chosen as staff based on their proven leadership experience, the potential to contribute to the mission and development of the individual centers, and their understanding of best practices in the retention and graduation of BIPOC students.
Description of Duties:
- Connect with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds to build relationships.
- Assist in planning, developing, and implementing various-sized programs. Examples include cultural food nights, celebrations, and other related events.
- Engage in discussions about diversity, leadership, and cultural community issues. Publicize center events through various outlets such as social media platforms and campus flyers.
- Participate in center trainings, meetings, and events as needed. ** Please note that some programs will be held on weekends or after 5 PM throughout the year.
- Attend summer, winter, and spring retreats when applicable.
- Meet with the direct supervisor for programmatic and leadership development weekly.
- Demonstrate organizational and time management skills.
- Maintain a 2.3-semester grade point average.
- Fulfill collateral assignments and any other duty assigned by Professional Staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum grade point average of 2.3 or better for undergraduate students. 3.0 for graduate students. *Optional: If your grade point average is below the requested number, please provide a letter sharing anything you would like the selection committee to consider.
- Prefer Junior and Senior academic standing in the fall but not required for undergraduate positions.
- Demonstrate previous leadership experience and/or involvement in diversity programming.
- Effective oral and written communication skills are highly desirable.
- Ability to effectively work in a team/group environment.
- Desire personal growth and possess the openness to be challenged in your journey in leadership.
Exceptions to the minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the University.

All work must be performed within the State of California.
Compliance training completion (approx. 4 hours of work time) is required of this position within the first 30 days of work.
