Role Description:
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management is collecting application materials for students invited to join Dr. Reza Khani’s research team on a project aimed at boosting Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) performance through distributed computing and custom hardware solutions. The project emphasizes optimization across algorithms, systems, and hardware to achieve next-generation ML/DL acceleration.
Description of Duties:
Research assistants will work approximately four hours per week and the responsibilities include:
- Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of distributed computing frameworks for ML/DL acceleration.
- Implement, optimize, and benchmark ML/DL models in C/C++ and Python.
- Contribute to hardware design, modeling, and validation using SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL.
- Explore co-design approaches between hardware and ML/DL software frameworks.
- Conduct experiments, analyze performance metrics, and document results.
- Collaborate with faculty, graduate researchers, and industry partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL for hardware modeling and design.
- Foundational knowledge of Machine Learning/Deep Learning concepts.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for research.
